Check & Mate

So, right now I’m reading Check & Mate by Ali Hazelwood. I’m almost 200 pages in, and there has been no physical intimacy between the two characters, but the sexual tension is harder than concrete! This is a slow burn to be sure, and I am living for it!

Like most of Ali Hazelwood’s books, this one takes place in the world of academia. Isn’t that the best place for romance? In Check & Mate, we are plunged into the high-stakes world of competitive chess. Our heroine is a chess prodigy who’s sworn off chess because it ruined her family.

Our hero is the number one chess player in the world…until she beats him at a charity event. Now, he cannot get his mind off of her, and he wants another game.
