Siddhartha
I just finished listening to an audiobook and I cannot get it out of my head. It wasn’t very long, only about four hours, and it was originally published in German in 1922. Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse is transcendent.
The title comes from two Sanskrit words: Siddha - meaning achieved and artha - meaning what is searched for. Together it translates roughly to he finds what he is looking for. Lush and lyrical, this story beautifully blends Indian and Western spirituality as a young Brahmin goes on a lifelong journey toward enlightenment.
Stirring and disrupting, this book confronted every one of my worldviews one by one and made me truly think about life, the universe, and everything.
I highly recommend this book - 5/5 stars!
